Managing Characters (Roster)

An account in Last Frontier isn’t a single hero you keep forever — it’s a small team of approaches: one character built for cautious scouting, another for combat, a third for crafting or trading. Managing this team is called the roster, and it works by strict rules.

Several characters on one account

A single account can hold up to five characters. At any given moment you control exactly one active hero — the one who steps out into the world. The others don’t disappear: they stay part of the account with their own state, waiting until you pick them.

The key principle: each character keeps their own history separately. Level, experience, trained skills, wounds, inventory, and the consequences of past outings all belong to that specific hero. Switching characters isn’t free healing or a way to erase mistakes: come back to a wounded fighter later and you’ll find them in exactly the state you left them.

Learned abilities and the set of enabled abilities also belong to each hero separately. When you return to that hero, permanent ability bonuses remain in effect, including bonuses to maximum health and gear upgrade slots. Repeated switches do not double these bonuses. See Abilities and Talents and Gear Modification.

Three actions: create, switch, delete

The roster is managed with three commands:

  • Create a character — adds a hero to a free slot while there are fewer than five. Additional heroes get a shortened intro: they do not repeat the briefing or rat and dog fights, and do not receive their training experience. Initial character setup still has to be completed.
  • Switch — makes the chosen hero active. You can’t switch to a character who is already active.
  • Delete — permanently removes a character from the roster. You can’t delete the active hero — switch to another one first.

The commands are available in the Characters section of your PDA. It shows your heroes, their names, and which one is currently active.

Management is only possible in your personal room

All three actions are tied to your personal safe space: you can only create, switch, and delete heroes while in your own room, not out in the open world or in a dangerous zone. This is by design — the roster is meant to be a team of roles prepared in advance, not an instant fighter swap at any bad spot.

When you switch, the game loads the chosen hero and neatly places them on a free tile next to the previous character in the same room. No jumps across the map — the switch happens in safety.

The shared account storage

The account has one shared storage accessible to all your characters. This is the bridge over which rare materials, tools, and consumables pass from one hero to another: stash the loot with your scout, then pick it up with your fighter or crafter.

Supplies survive login, character creation, and switching heroes, but you open them through an accessible locker on the map. Your active character does not get remote access to all storage from any location. Return to a storage facility first; see Personal Rooms and Storage.

This is also where loot lost on death ends up — the shared storage — which means items dropped by one character can be recovered by another hero on the same account.

What happens when you enter the game

Login returns you to the active hero with their saved state. If the account has no character, its first hero is created with the intro scene. Shared supplies remain on the account; accessing them requires an eligible locker.

Note: a full roster is available only to a registered player — in anonymous play, character management is locked.

For room and supply access, see Personal Rooms and Storage.
